Homework
I strive to give sufficient time in class for students to complete assigned work. Should students require more time to complete work, they will need to finish it after school or in the evening.
Reasons for homework:
1. To practice a newly learned skill or concept (the more you do something the easier it becomes).
2. The student needs more time to finish what they started, or in some cases, the student did not use class time efficiently.
3. Building life skills in prioritizing, working independently, and perseverance.
It is very important that you and your child establish a homework routine now (if you haven’t done so already). I encourage the use of the school agenda to plan homework time around other extra-curricular activities. Time management is one of the most important life skills we have as adults!
Check out this link for helpful hints about homework.
Note: Homework is an opportunity to practice and may be challenging for students. However it should never be frustrating. If your child is continuously frustrated, stressed or spending over 45 minutes to 60 minutes on one subject, please contact me and together we can make some adjustments or alternative arrangements for work completed at home.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
